Michael Sekulla


studied piano-instruction and school music at the Heidelberg-Mannheim Conservatory of Music, and subsequently obtained his artistic training diploma as a conductor with Martin Schmidt and Andreas Weiss at the Karlsruhe Conservatory. He was greatly influenced by the Hungarian conductor Zsolt Nagy at the Conservatoire Superieur de Paris, several of whose master courses he attended, above all with the Janacek Philharmonia in Ostrava (Czech Republic), specializing in the classical modern period (Stravinsky, Bartok etc.)

He is known in the Rhein-Neckar area as the leader a number of ensembles. He founded the ‘Mannheim Chamber Opera’ in 2001 and took over as leader of the SAP Sinfonietta in 2003.

He has been conductor of the Heidelberg Madrigal Choir since September 2005
